Samburu National Reserve

Unique wildlife and authentic cultural experiences with Samburu people in northern Kenya.

Northern Kenya
2-4 Days
Best: June - October

Overview

Samburu National Reserve offers a completely different safari experience from the more famous southern parks, showcasing the rugged beauty of northern Kenya and its unique wildlife adaptations. The reserve is home to the 'Samburu Special Five' - species found nowhere else in Kenya: Grevy's zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. The landscape is dramatically different from the classic savannah, featuring arid scrublands, doum palms, and the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River that attracts wildlife year-round.
